Lake Superior College has earned more national recognition for quality and affordability. College Consensus has recognized Lake Superior College among the nation's Top 25 Best Online Associate's in History in its survey for 2021. The 25 best associate's degrees in history programs were selected based on cost, reputation, and student success rate.
Lake Superior College was ranked as the 17th best program in the United States and according to the College Consensus website: “Lake Superior College offers an associate of arts in history that is considered one of the best of its kind. This associate’s degree in history online offers a transfer pathway that prepares students to engage in a bachelor’s degree program in history following this achievement. In fact, Lake Superior College has partnerships with multiple colleges in the state of Minnesota, where students are guaranteed matriculation upon completion. The entire course of study is built on the completion of 60 credit hours. They encourage students to register early, so they are able to get into all of the classes they need to transfer. They offer complex advising for students to determine the best path forward for their specific situation. Many general education courses will be met in this program, including college composition, communications courses, a class called the first-year experience, and a number of elective courses. Some elective options include: world history since 1945, Minnesota history, and world politics and global history.”
LSC's History degree is currently offered both completely online and through a hybrid model of both online and on campus course work. History is one of several Transfer Pathway Associate of Arts (AA) degrees offered at Lake Superior College. The History Transfer Pathway A.A. offers students the opportunity to complete an Associate of Arts degree with course credits that directly transfer to designated History bachelor’s degree programs at Minnesota State universities. The curriculum has been specifically designed so that students completing this pathway degree and transferring to one of the seven Minnesota State universities enter the university with junior-year status, saving students time and money. All courses in the Transfer Pathway associate degree will directly transfer and apply to the designated bachelor’s degree programs in a related field.
