LeadMN provides education on recognizing signs of burnout and managing stress to prevent burnout. This includes strategizing self-care, developing study habits that work for you, and balancing the many pressing responsibilities in life. LeadMN is a student association that provides students at two-year colleges paid leadership positions, internships, as well as scholarships that build skills, foster advocacy, and drive community impact. The Blue Water Big Band is a 13-member group that plays a variety of songs from the early days of swing up through the 70’s and 80’s. You might here a twist on the classic “In the Mood” alongside “Old Time Rock and Roll,” or a tango right before the Louis Armstrong classic, “What a Wonderful World.” The band includes LSC English instructor Kelli Hallsten Erickson, and the group is thrilled to play at LSC for the first time for this spring’s Student Success Day.

Diana Oestreich is an author, veteran, activist, peacemaker, and Lake Superior College graduate. She served as a combat medic for 397 days on the battlefield of the Iraq war. She earned her nursing degree from Lake Superior College, working with hospice and cancer patients before becoming a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner connecting healthcare to advocating in the justice system. Her book Waging Peace: One Soldier’s Story of Putting Love First was Amazon's #1 new release in war and peace.
