Robots designed and built by seven Integrated Manufacturing student teams will be put to the competitive task today, Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 1 p.m. at LSC’s Downtown Center, 120 N. Second Avenue West, Duluth. The event is free and open to the public.
“The event showcases original robot design by students as well as demonstrating different team approaches to mechanical challenges,” said Integrated Manufacturing Engineering CAD Technology faculty member Rich Kresky. “It’s always interesting to see students progressively learning to work as a team.”
The robots are challenged to pick up water from an ice cream pail, travel through an obstacle course, and deposit the water into a second pail. The amount of water transferred by a robot in the least amount of time wins. Past robotic task challenges have included moving ping pong balls, water balloons, buckets of sand, and raw eggs through obstacle courses.
