Student-Built Robots Put to the Task in LSC Competition
Robots designed and built by eight Integrated Manufacturing student teams will be put to the competitive task on Monday, December 9 at 1 p.m. at LSC’s Downtown Center, 120 N. Second Avenue West, Duluth. The event is free and open to the public.

“The task competition showcases original robot design by students as well as demonstrating different team approaches to mechanical challenges,” said Manufacturing Engineering CAD Technology faculty member Rich Kresky. “It’s always interesting to see students make progress as they learn to work as a team.”

The robots are challenged to pick up steel marbles of a specific quantity and move them from container A to container B while traveling through an obstacle course. They will be judged on staying within the course, the number of marbles deposited, and the amount of time needed to complete the task. Past robotic task challenges have included moving ping pong balls, water balloons, buckets of sand, and raw eggs through obstacle courses.
