Lake Superior College has hired Michelle MacDonald as a full time unlimited (FTU) nursing instructor. She will teach in both the AS Nursing Program and the Practical Nursing Program.
LSC’s nationally accredited nursing programs include career tracks in practical nursing; practical nursing/military medic; professional nursing A.S. and nursing advanced standing LPN track.
The nursing programs graduate approximately 200 nursing students annually with a 2016 NCLEX pass rate of RN-93% and PN-100% on state licensure nursing exams. The majority of LSC graduates stay and work in the healthcare field in the Arrowhead region.
MacDonald recently taught nursing education at Rasmussen College and National American University. Previously, she worked in the public health sector for almost a decade as an analyst and nurse at St. Louis County Public Health and Human Services. Prior to working in public health, MacDonald spent time teaching in professional nursing programs, including Colorado Technical University, Lake Superior College, and Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College. She also has worked as a staff nurse in Duluth and Cloquet hospitals.
MacDonald holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from St. Catherine University in St Paul, master’s and bachelor’s degrees in nursing from The College of St. Scholastica, an A.A. from Lake Superior College, and an associate degree in nursing from Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College.
