The Lake Superior College Co-Ed Clay Target team began its fall season in the Minnesota Collegiate Athletic Conference (MCAC) with a week one team score of 533.
The IceHawks are in the Red Division of the MCAC and are second behind Williston State College (N.D.), who recorded a week one score of 537.50. The divisions are determined by squad size. The MCAC Red Division takes 10 individual scores to determine a team’s score.
Jacob Jarvi shot a 50-straight to lead LSC in week one. Chase Graves, who shot a 50-straight in the Reserve Week had a 25-straight in week one. Tanner Helin and Nicholas Pearson also had a 25-straight for the IceHawks. Pearson recorded a score of 49 for week one.
Jayden Byers-Stewart and Isabelle Schlander were the top women performers for the IceHawks in week one, recording 47 out of 50. Schlander had a 50-straight in the reserve week.
Clay Target is a co-ed sport at Lake Superior College that competes nationally. The program, established in 2017, is guided by Minnesota Trapshooting Association (MTA) Hall of Fame Head Coach George Pappas. Pappas has accumulated over 200 trophies in State, Satellite Grand and Grand American competitions. The team competes regularly at the Proctor Gun Club, only 15 minutes from the main campus.
