DULUTH, Minn. (May 6, 2024) – The Lake Superior College Co-Ed Clay Target team registered 229 points in the penultimate week of competition to hold a 190-point lead in the in the USA College Clay Target League National Conference 3 standings entering the fifth-and-final week of competition.
The team was led by female competitor Ella Audorff, who registered her first perfect round of the spring, connecting on 25 straight and then missed just one target in her second round to finish with a season-high 49-of-50 targets. Audorff ranks third among female shooters in the conference with a season average score of 23.13.
Jacob Jarvi registered his third perfect round of the spring and finished connecting on 48-of-50 targets to record the second-highest point total on the team in week four. Jarvi cut into teammate’s Spencer Tietz’ conference lead as Jarvi sits with a season average score of 24.00, while league leader Tietz has a season average of 24.13.
Tietz and the LSC’s top female shooter all season, Riley Voss, each recorded 46 targets this week. Voss fell to second in the conference among female shooters with a season average of 23.63 points. She still ranks eighth nationally among female competitors.
Colin Thoen matched a season-high in week four, connecting on 45-of-50 targets.
Heading into this final week, the IceHawks have a season total of 1,047.50 points, followed by the University of Mary (N.D.) with 884.50 points. Minot State University (N.D.) is third with 692.50 points. IceHawk competitors have until Saturday to record scores for the final week of the spring season.
Clay Target is a co-ed sport at Lake Superior College that competes nationally. The program, established in 2017, is guided by Head Coach George Pappas, who will be inducted into the Minnesota Trapshooting Association (MTA) Hall of Fame this June. Pappas has accumulated over 200 trophies in State, Satellite Grand and Grand American competitions. The team competes regularly at the Proctor Gun Club, only 15 minutes from the main campus.
