Lake Superior College and AAR, a global provider of aviation services with locations throughout the world including in Duluth, will be holding a brief news conference this Thursday, January 24, at 11:00 a.m. at LSC’s Center for Advanced Aviation to announce the launch of a new program, EAGLE Career Pathway. The program will build on their existing partnership and offer potential students in LSC’s Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) program career pathways and incentives, including tuition reimbursement. Lake Superior College is one of only a handful of colleges throughout the country to be selected as a preferred partner with AAR’s EAGLE Career Pathway program. More details will be explained at the news conference. The event is free and open to the public. Cake and tours of the aviation campus will be available after the brief program.
WHO/WHAT: LSC President Patrick Johns and Ryan Goertzen, Vice President of Aviation Workforce Development for AAR’s corporate headquarters, will announce the launch of the new partnership called AAR EAGLE Career Pathway, which will provide additional marketing and recruiting opportunities, as well as additional resources for K-12 students considering a career path as an aviation maintenance technician. The goal is to continue to address workforce needs in our community and throughout the region, making LSC’s Center for Advanced Aviation a regional destination for AMT training. According to a study by Boeing, there is currently a shortage of approximately 189,000 aircraft mechanics in North America. Locally, AAR in Duluth continues to seek to hire additional mechanics and anticipates the need will only grow in the coming years.
