Lake Superior College will give its new and returning students a chance to get a head start to prepare for the upcoming fall semester with two Kickoff events planned this week at LSC’s Main Campus. The first will be on Thursday, August 22, from 3-6 p.m. and then the second will be Saturday, August 24, from 9 a.m.-Noon.
With the Fall Semester beginning on Monday, August 26, the Semester Kickoff events provide students an opportunity to take care of tasks while on campus before the first day of classes. These tasks include picking up books and supplies at the LSC Store, finding their classrooms and other areas of campus, making a tuition payment, getting their student IDs, meeting with an advisor to add or drop a class, and even possibly meeting their instructors and classmates.
“We encourage new students to visit during these Kickoff events if they have any questions, concerns or just want find their way around campus before that first day of fall semester," said LSC Registrar Melissa Leno. "It’s often helpful to know where your classrooms and other key areas are before the semester begins. That way, you can attend your first day and not have to worry about those details. We will have staff and volunteers spread out throughout campus happy to help assist students with whatever they need to do before school begins. The LSC Store will be open as well to pick up books and get IceHawk apparel.”
New and returning students are welcome to attend either of the dates or times listed, and no registration is required. These Kickoff events are optional. If you are unable to attend, you can stop by the main campus during regular business hours to take care of any of these items before the start of the semester.
For prospective new students, there is still time to apply and register for fall semester with the application deadline being end of day Friday, August 23. While some programs are already full, there are still openings in other programs and students can add/drop classes until the fifth day of the semester.
