Duluth, Minn. (November 8, 2023) – Lake Superior College will host a health care open house on Thursday, November 9, 2023 for individuals interested in exploring health care programs. Health care jobs in the Twin Ports and the larger northland region continue to be plentiful for graduates of these one- or two-year programs.
“This open house is a wonderful opportunity for future students to talk with instructors and current students, see the labs and equipment they’ll use, and ask pointed questions,” said Anna Sackette-Urness, Dean of Health Sciences at Lake Superior College. “There are so many options in healthcare from direct patient care to working in laboratory settings. We are here to help students and their families understand the differences and make their decisions feel less overwhelming.”
The open house starts at 3:00 p.m. on the main campus and ends at 6:00 p.m. Attendees can see the campus on a tour, watch demonstrations, participate in hands-on activities like addressing wound-care in nursing, get a chair massage in our massage therapy clinic, take a career interest quiz, learn about admissions, and pre-program requirements from advising.
The 14 accredited health care programs offered include, but are not limited to: Dental Hygiene, Radiological Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Nursing, Surgical Technology, Phlebotomy, Medical Laboratory, Massage Therapy, Physical Therapy, and more. Several credentials are stackable, transferable, and include valuable hands-on clinical experiences.
Lake Superior College offers the second lowest tuition in Minnesota among two- and four-year public and private institutions with an average annual tuition of $5,785. Open house attendees can learn about completing the FAFSA and financial aid options. Guests will also be able to see campus resources like our library, and Tutoring and Learning Center while on tour.
