Lake Superior College Foundation To Award Four Machine Tech Students With Toolbox Scholarships Worth Over $1,500
Four students currently enrolled in Lake Superior College’s machine tech program will be presented with LSC Foundation Machine Toolbox Scholarships during a short, informal gathering on Tuesday, February 25, 10:15 a.m., at LSC’s Downtown Campus.

Four students currently enrolled in Lake Superior College’s machine tech program will be presented with LSC Foundation Machine Toolbox Scholarships during a short, informal gathering on Tuesday, February 25, 10:15 a.m., at LSC’s Downtown Campus, 120 N. 2nd Ave W, Duluth. Media and the public are welcome to attend.

The LSC Foundation will award each student a new toolbox filled with much-needed tools to support their studies, as well as their careers. The toolboxes contain over $1,500 worth of equipment including calipers, micrometers, and indicators and more. Each student gets to keep the toolbox with one caveat: they must complete the program or return the tools. These toolboxes are funded through generous contributions and donations from community and industry partners. This year, the Arrowhead Manufacturers & Fabricators Association (AMFA) served as the lead sponsor and contributed the majority of funding to make these scholarship possible.

“Being selected to receive one of these toolboxes is a real incentive and vote of confidence for these students,” said LSC faculty member Max Udovich “I am confident these students will not only graduate from the program here at Lake Superior College, but will be well prepared to enter the workforce with a competitive advantage. Their success will be the result of their hard work and the hands-on education they received at LSC, which is possible thanks to support we get from industry partners like AMFA.”

“LSC Foundation is grateful for the ongoing financial support we receive from our community partners who help make scholarships like this possible,” said Daniel Fanning, Vice President of Advancement and External Relations at Lake Superior College who also serves as the Executive Director of LSC Foundation. "Our students really benefit from receiving this equipment, and it’s also a win for their future employers to have these students well-trained and ready to hit the ground running on day one of their employment. We really appreciate the support from AMFA and all who make our scholarships possible."

The mission of the Lake Superior College Foundation is to support Lake Superior College by cultivating community relationships and philanthropic support that will advance educational opportunities for students, staff, and community. The Toolbox Scholarship Awards unofficially marks the beginning of the scholarship season at Lake Superior College, which will include awarding about $150,000 in student scholarships over the next couple of months.  The official scholarship application window for most traditional LSC Foundation scholarships is currently open and remains open until February 28.
