Duluth, Minn. (August 21, 2023) – Hundreds of students filled the parking lot at Lake Superior College for the first day of class of the fall semester. The community and technical college has over 90 programs taught at its four Duluth locations; the main campus on Trinity Road, the Downtown Center on 2nd Ave. West, the Center for Advanced Aviation near the airport, and the Emergency Response Training Center on Highway 23.
Enrollment is up over 3 percent from this time last year translating into over 2,500 students for this fall semester.
“We’re excited to welcome back returning students and new students for the start of their college journey,” said Dr. Linda Kingston, vice president of academic and student affairs at Lake Superior College. “Our faculty and staff are dedicated to helping students succeed in the classroom and in life.”
Students hail from not only the Twin Ports region and across the upper Midwest but from several countries as international students. Post Secondary Education Option (PSEO) students are also among this fall’s ranks.
Construction projects started this summer are still in progress at the main campus. College employees are lending extra help as classrooms and other spaces have changed. A remodeled library, roof repairs, a new automotive shop air handler system installation, and preparations for a new addition to the manufacturing center are all at various stages of completion.
