Anna Sackette-Urnesshas been appointed as Lake Superior College’s Interim Dean of Allied Health and Nursing. The appointment begins June 3, 2019.
In this capacity, she will direct and evaluate current and future program initiatives and work closely with program directors and faculty to ensure LSC’s current and future programs meet industry needs.
Sackette-Urness has served as a Lake Superior College nursing faculty member since 2004 and is currently serving as division coordinator for the Allied Health and Nursing division (AHN). Prior to joining LSC she
served as a staff nurse and weekend supervisor at St. Mary’s Hospital. She also worked as a nurse clinician at SMDC Regional Heart Center.
Sackette-Urness is involved in multiple professional organizations and is an active member on several boards and committees. She co-chairs LSC’s Master Academic Plan Committee and serves as a member of LSC’s Strategic Planning Committee. She also has been active in the Lake Superior College Faculty Shared Governance, serving in various officer roles including as Chair.
Sackette-Urness is a member of the National League for Nursing, a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International (Honor Society of Nursing) and serves as a certified site evaluator for the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). She founded the Duluth Academy: Building Community Collaboration for Student and Citizen Success that is a collaboration between LSC, the City of Duluth, the Duluth Police Department and Duluth Public Schools.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the College of St. Scholastica and a master of science degree in nursing education from the University of North Dakota.
