Make arrangements to purchase health insurance and means to be evacuated.
Do this step only after you know the results of your visa interview.
All international students are required to purchase a Mandatory International Student Medical Insurance plan. The cost of the plan is currently $1,801.00 for the 2020-21 academic year. If written verification can be obtained from the student’s government or sponsoring agency that provides a government sponsored plan then the United Healthcare MN State insurance plan is not required. This proof of health insurance coverage must be received prior to course registration.
- United Healthcare: search for Lake Superior College to review the plan and email [email protected] and request that a charge of international student health insurance be added to your account, to sign up for insurance. You may need to contact United Healthcare directly at 1-888-251-6243 if you have specific questions about the health insurance plan.
You will need to have a health care plan in place before you travel, and you must pay for health insurance coverage prior to registering for classes. Questions about the health insurance requirement for international students can be emailed to [email protected].
