- How many people apply to LSC’s PTA program?
Lake Superior College typically receives between 40-5o applications for its program each year; however, not all of these applications are complete. We do not currently have a wait list to enter the PTA Military Bridge program.
- Do I have to take Anatomy & Physiology II before starting the PTA courses?
Yes, we do want you to have completed Human Anatomy/Physiology II before taking PTA courses. It is also strongly recommended that all required general education courses (COMM 1100 or 1105, PSYC 1135, and ENGL 1106 be completed before taking PTA courses. This will increase your chance of admission. There is some leeway on this which you can discuss with the program director. - Why do you require the TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) test?
Scores on the TEAS test have been found to be strongly associated with success on the required national board exam for physical therapist assistants. Other PTA programs have been using the TEAS test as an admission requirement for several years and have found it helpful in admitting students with strong potential to succeed in the program. - I’ve taken some of the required courses. Can I transfer them in?

Students must take at least 15 credits of coursework through LSC in order to earn the PTA degree. If you transfer in more than one of the four required general education courses, you will need to take additional courses to reach the 15-credit requirement. - Can I use Tuition Assistance (TA) for this program?

Lake Superior College is successfully removing barriers for military veterans. The Physical Therapist Assistant–Military Bridge program eliminates time and financial barriers for both veterans and taxpayers, who would otherwise pay both for the initial military training and for the re-training outside the military, through veterans’ federal education benefits. - Can I apply if I was dishonorably discharged?
If honorably discharged from the service, a copy of DD form 214 (Certificate of Release of Discharge from Active Duty). Admission applications must be received within 1 year of discharge to ensure the preservation of clinical skill competencies. Applications received after 1 year may be considered if continued employment as a physical therapy technician/specialist can be verified.
