The Lake Superior College Foundation offers scholarships from private donors twice a year. There are also external scholarships with different application dates (check the link on this page for details and how to apply them to your tuition).
To apply for the Lake Superior College Foundation scholarships, you need to fill out an online application with demographic, academic, and essay questions. You must upload your latest college or high school transcript and a letter of recommendation. You don’t need to look at individual scholarship requirements. Your answers will help volunteers score your application and match you with scholarships.
The smallest scholarship this semester is $500. All students, no matter their program or stage, can apply.
The Fall 2025 application window opens on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, and closes on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. The Award Spring scholarship program is separate from other LSC registration databases, so you’ll need to enter your information manually. Scholarships are competitive, so write good essay answers and have someone review them, especially if you use AI. Save your answers for future applications. About 2-5 volunteers will read and score each application. Scholarships are awarded based on these scores. Notifications will be sent in late July to early August 2025. Check the email you used in your application for updates.
Additional Scholarship Details
Scholarship funds are deposited on a student’s college account after the semester’s add-drop date. Scholarships are often for just one semester, but several are for a full year and are split between the fall and spring semesters. When award emails are sent, it will explain the type of scholarship you earned.
Scholarships are generally used for tuition, fees, books, supplies, and tools required for coursework. Some scholarships can be used for living expenses too.
Late applications will not be accepted so plan to apply early. Letters of recommendation are not required but highly recommended (almost all students without a letter of recommendation do not receive a scholarship). Asking someone to write a letter of recommendation is often the most time consuming part of the application process so don’t wait until the last few days to apply.
